Shin Hyun-sik

Shin Hyun-sik is a leading Korean ajaeng performer and the artistic director of Ensemble Sinawi, renowned for bridging traditional Korean music and contemporary expression. A graduate of the Korea National University of Arts and a Ph.D. candidate at Korea University, Shin has received numerous honors, including the KBS Korean Traditional Music Award and the Edaily Culture Award. His performances have been featured at major venues and festivals worldwide, such as the Brunei Gallery at SOAS University of London, the EBU Folk Music Festival in Poland, and the Savoy Theatre in Finland. Dedicated to exploring the aesthetic and spatial dimensions of traditional sound, Shin continues to expand the boundaries of gugak through innovative collaborations across disciplines, including recent roles as music director for the Royal Palace Music Concert Ballet X Sujecheon and Disney Plus drama The Murky Stream (2025).
Jeong Song-hee

Jeong Song-hee is a Korean musician who explores the artistic possibilities of the yanggeum (Korean hammered dulcimer) through both traditional and contemporary expressions. She graduated from the Department of Music Creation at the Korea National University of Arts, School of Korean Traditional Arts, and earned her master’s degree from the KAIST Graduate School of Culture and Technology.
As a certified instructor of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Gurye Hyangje Julpungryu Yanggeum, Jeong integrates tradition with modern sound aesthetics. Her solo recital “Yanggeum – Oriented” at the National Gugak Center showcased the delicate tone and expanded sonic range of the yanggeum. Currently an active member of Ensemble Sinawi, she continues to reinterpret Korean traditional music through the dialogue between yanggeum and piano.
